At MTC, your development is crucial to our success, which is why we provide a range of local, corporate and online opportunities for you to learn, develop and grow.
These are aligned to our organisational goals and regularly reviewed to ensure you’re getting the best training when it’s needed – from the first day you spend with us right through to the work you do in enhancing your current role and moving onto your next one. And, of course, this can extend to moving from one of our organisation’s to another.
We also provide Talent Gateways which identify all development opportunities that are available to you depending on your current performance in your role.
For example, if your goal is to become a Probation Officer, we’ll support you to gain your level 3, 4 and 5 qualifications in probation, which will ultimately provide you with access to the PQiP (Professional Qualification in Probation) you need to achieve your ambition.
Meeting our day to day delivery objectives
On a daily basis, we have a number of delivery objectives to meet, including:
- Enabling service users to be less likely to reoffend.
- Minimising risk of harm to others.
- Implementing the sentence of the court.
To measure our performance against these objectives, we track a number of key quality led performance indicators which give us a fast and accurate idea of how we’re doing.
Service users look up to me, which I think is a good thing, because a lot of them have not had any direction in life… that’s the difference I want them to feel.
A lot of the time, service users have never had respect before, and I like to think that I’m the difference they need to inspire change in their lives.
I have lots of positive conversations with service users, and this is definitely where I feel like I’m able to be the difference they’re looking for.
It’s always our aim to be the difference in someone’s life. It makes me feel so much better… and then I know I’ve done a great job.
We’re not in it for the money. Being the difference by making small changes in people’s lives is why we’re here.
I know for certain, without a doubt, that I wouldn’t be here today without MTC's constant support and encouragement. They have definitely made a meaningful change to my life.
My strength is that I’ve got a lot of patience, even in difficult situations, and I think that’s where I make a difference to people.
